Welcome to the extensible tensor field!
The extensible tensor field is an XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) server
Getting Started
To use the XMPP service, you need an XMPP client.
Recommended clients
Desktop (Linux and Windows):
- Gajim: best client on the Desktop, but has currently no support for audio/video chats
- Dino: if you need audio/video chat
Android:
- Conversations:
Conversations is always free of charge on the
F-Droid store,
but has a small price on the Google Play Store.
- aTalk: free of charge on F-Droid and Google Play.
- Snikket:
a for of Conversations tailored to be used in conjunction with Snikket servers.
Hence not all features of Snikket may be supported on this XMPP server.
If you absolutely cannot use F-Droid and want a free of charge version of Conversations this is the best option.
MacOS:
- Beagle IM: probably the best option on MacOS, supports audio/video chats
- Monal
- Gajim: works on MacOS, but setup might be a little complicated.
Has currently no support for audio/video chats.
iOS:
Further clients
A list of recognised XMPP clients can be found on the
official XMPP website.
There exist clients that are served as a website that can be used from your web browser.
You should be aware of the security implications of such services.
A malicious service provider could change the code of the service and extract your user data
and even end-to-end encrypted messages.
Therefore it is recommended that you only use web clients from servers that you
control or trust. Often you can serve these clients locally.
